As the summer days fade, we find ourselves reflecting on the laughter, growth, and countless memories made in Chipeta. From sweeping views atop alpine trails to cheering during All-Camp Campfire skits, our summer was filled with adventure, connection, and joy. But more than anything, it was the spirit of sisterhood that defined our time together—whether bonding over foosball tournaments in the Lodge or sharing a glass of milk (or two, or three… it was a Milk Summer, after all).
Our outcamping counselors, Margaret Breault and Piper Kremer, created memorable overnight experiences that brought campers closer to each other and to nature. Whether playing cards by lantern light, stargazing from sleeping bags, or making s’mores around a fire, campers embraced the beauty of being off the grid. The following campers earned their Outcamping Basics: Charlyse Greenwald, Mabel Grimsley, and Rachel Freese. Earning their Outcamping Patch were: Mabel Grimsley and Rachel Freese.
Honor Nestlehutt, Maddie Butters, and Hollis Toomey, our dedicated hiking counselors, led campers on incredible journeys through Rocky Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks Wilderness, encouraging grit, awe, and appreciation for nature. The following campers earned their Hiking Basics and Mountaineers Patch: Emily Cox, Eva Sorenson, Kensington Cozza, Martha Hall, Mary Strom, Reese Dahlstrom, and Stella Mugge.
Backpacking adventures this summer were unforgettable, thanks to Taylor Rhea and Lucy Bowman, who guided campers through multi-night treks with mountain views and plenty of trail snacks. Whether it was setting up tents at 10,000 feet or telling stories around the camp stove, these campers stepped into the wilderness with courage and curiosity. The following earned their Backpacking Basics: Gwyneth Carter, Lola Mochary, Rebecca De Vore, and Remington Ullrich. Earning their Backpacking Patch were: Gwyneth Carter, Lola Mochary, Rebecca De Vore, and Ruby Sparks.
The horseback program, led by Margaret Meyer and Mikaela Johnson, gave campers the chance to grow confident in the saddle and deepen their connection with the herd. From ring work to trail rides, these campers demonstrated responsibility and horsemanship. The following earned their Riding Basics: Annie King, Bridget Jensen, Charlotte Walker, Charlotte Zimmerman, Dylan Remley, Hannah Poteet, Juliana Edwards, Lucie Rumsey, Penelope Vonsover, Quinn Day, Sally Gillikin, and Scarlett Scott. Earning their Riding Patch were: Bridget Jensen, Charlotte Walker, Charlotte Zimmerman, Dylan Remley, Hannah Poteet, Juliana Edwards, Lucie Rumsey, Penelope Vonsover, Quinn Day, Sally Gillikin, and Scarlett Scott.

Madison Nelson, our crafts counselor, sparked creativity across the craft shop, ceramics, and woodshop. Campers painted, sculpted, and built projects that were as unique as they were, bringing their imagination to life.
Kiera Murphy and Elsie Middleton, our sports counselors, brought the energy to the field, court, and climbing wall. With impressive climbing knowledge and creative programming, they introduced the game Gold Rush to camp, which quickly became a fan favorite. Campers develop focus and precision on the archery range. Evenings in Chipeta were magical thanks to Greer Patten, our campfire counselor. From Disco Party to Halloween to Shark Tank, every night brought laughter, connection, and joy. Our All-Camp Campfire skits—Tangled in Term 1 and The Lorax in Term 2—were crowd favorites, showcasing Chipeta’s creativity and teamwork.
Our community was built on the Code of Living, created by the campers themselves each term. This summer, Term 1 chose: Sisterhood, Adventure, Pizzazz, Equity, and Integrity. Term 2 chose: Sisterhood, Sunshine, Courage, Integrity, and Acceptance. Campers and staff then voted for peers who lived these traits daily. The following campers earned their Silver Spurs: Emi Zagra, Eva Sorenson, Harper Kraslin-Simpson, Nyah Klein, Rebecca De Vore, Reese Dahlstrom, Sally Gillikin, and Vivianna Kaplan.
As we say goodbye to another incredible summer, we know the songs, values, and friendships of Chipeta will stay with us long after the last cabin is swept.
We can’t wait to welcome you back to the mountains again next year!
