We are beyond excited to introduce our Campers in Leadership Training for the Summer of 2026! This year, more than fifty campers applied to be part of the CILT program, eager to return to camp after their junior and senior years of high school. The enthusiasm, dedication, and love for Cheley shown through these applications have been truly inspiring.
As always, the selection process is one of the most difficult responsibilities we face. Each applicant brings so much heart, growth, and leadership to their unit, and we wish we could say yes to everyone. But to preserve the integrity of the CILT experience, we cap the number of participants per term and unit. This ensures each CILT has the space to grow, contribute meaningfully, and step fully into leadership.
Our decisions are based on a careful combination of factors: votes from fellow campers and staff, input from directors and assistant directors, the overall balance of each unit, and the experiences shared in the application. These perspectives together help us determine which campers are best positioned to succeed in and contribute to the CILT program this year.
We know this is not an easy moment for those not selected. We’ve seen time and again that a summer as a camper—without the added responsibilities of being a CILT—can still be one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences at Cheley. Many campers thrive in this role, stepping up as leaders in their units, pursuing program goals, and making deep connections across camp. Their contributions matter just as much to the fabric of our community.
With that in mind, we are proud to introduce the campers selected as CILTs for the summer of 2026. These individuals have been chosen based on their demonstrated leadership, dedication to the Code of Living, and commitment to our community. We are confident they will bring energy, insight, and heart to the program, and we look forward to all they will accomplish this summer.
