What a truly magical summer we’ve had in Lower Chipeta! Each day was filled with laughter, friendship, and adventure as campers dove headfirst into new programs, embraced challenges, and made memories that will last a lifetime. Whether it was hiking to sparkling alpine lakes, cantering through the ring on horseback, getting messy in crafts, or laughing around the campfire, this community grew stronger with every shared experience. Lower Chipeta once again showed what it means to live fully and connect deeply in the Colorado mountains.
Our horseback riding counselors, McClain Suelthaus, Caroline Collins, Ellie Moffitt, and Kayli Phillips, took the girls on incredible adventures on horseback. From games in the ring to full-day trail rides and two-starry overnight rides, their horsemanship skills soared. The following campers earned their Riding Patch: Cecile Morton, Charlotte Hirsch, Eleanor Rankin, Ella Sorenson, Ellison Mossy, Katherine Nusser, and Zara Smith.
Our hiking counselors, Madi Williams, Carly Lindgren, and Mia Bryant, led day trips to stunning summits, wildflower meadows, and quiet mountain lakes. These adventures were filled with songs, snacks, and stories of the day’s triumphs. The following campers earned their Chipmunk Patch: Caddy Armstrong, Ella McCormick, Helen Bell, Molly Elsener, and Witten Fell.
Outcamping counselors Makayla Anhorn and Lea Shank guided campers on multi-day adventures where they learned to cook over campfires, sleep under the stars, and make the forest their temporary home. Patch recipients for Outcamping this summer were Alexandra Le, Maddie Garvey, and Malena Lopez Guinazu.
In sports, Emily Gregg, Carly Neidel, Kate Haney, Annie Sallick, and Caroline Vorsteg led energetic games of gaga ball, basketball, archery, capture the flag, disc golf, and our ever-popular Olympic Sports Day. Climbing on the wall and tackling technical routes on Christmas Tree Rock earned many girls their Spider Patch, awarded to: Alexandra Le, Amira Crowther, Annalise Fox, Carolina Crump, Charlotte Cox, Claire Stacey, Dagny Dworkis, Eliot Hou, Georgia Wood, Juliette Ahoussi, Katharine Fruin, Kenzie Kozuch, Maddie Garvey, Maddie Powell, Merrill Biggs, Molly Carrico, Morgan Heit, Nina Vricella, Olivia Rayson, Vesper Walton, and Zara Smith.
Our riflery counselor, Lana Persons, worked with campers on focus, patience, and safety at the range. This program filled up quickly as girls were eager to hone their marksmanship, earning different patches and pins all summer.

Crafts counselor Ellie Klebe inspired creativity this summer with embroidery, junk journals, cardboard creations, and even tea-tasting afternoons during our “Finer Things” program. Campers also loved Treasure Tactics, Water Wars, Sweet Escape hikes (with cinnamon rolls from GTE!), and other spontaneous Lower Chipeta fun.

Every night, Els Rutledge brought us together for campfire—a time to laugh, sing, reflect, and share the magic of camp. We especially loved performing our Lion King medley (T1) and Barbie medley (T2) during All-Camp Campfire, showing off Lower Chipeta’s spirit for the whole community.
This summer’s Code of Living words were Honesty, Flexibility, Determination, Loyalty, Uplifting (T1), and Loyalty, Creativity, Perseverance, Authenticity, Courage (T2). These values shaped how we lived, played, and supported one another. At the end of each term, the following campers were recognized by their peers and staff with the Silver Coup for embodying these ideals: Alexandra Le, Aria Whitcomb, Caroline Dedeaux, Eliot Hou, Ella McCormick, Helen Bell, Katherine Urech, and Molly Elsener.
As another incredible summer comes to a close, we leave Lower Chipeta with full hearts, new skills, and friendships that feel like home. Until the mountains call us back, we’ll hold on to the memories, the laughter, and the spirit of our Lower Chipeta community.
