For years, our campers have eagerly pursued recognitions, showcasing their commitment to personal growth and skill development. Today, we’re thrilled to unveil two transformative updates that will elevate the Cheley Experience: the introduction of pins for the Basic Recognition and the revitalization of our patch books!
Historically, earning a Patch has been a hallmark of a camper’s journey, symbolizing dedication to mastering essential skills; however, the absence of tangible acknowledgment for the Basic Recognition has left something to be desired. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce an update to our recognition system: campers who complete the requirements for the Basic Recognition (half the requirements for a Patch Recognition) will now earn a coveted pin to proudly display on their Blue Kerchief! This addition ensures that every step of your journey is celebrated, providing tangible recognition for your hard work and dedication. Starting this summer, campers in all of our units, excluding Lower Ski Hi and Lower Chipeta, will now have the opportunity moving forward to earn pins for the Basic Recognition.
Now, let’s turn our attention to the revamped Recognition Guidelines, affectionately known as our “Patch Books.” The newest editions have been meticulously updated to align with the needs and preferences of today’s campers. We’ve modernized the language, ensuring clarity and consistency across all units and activities, while refining the requirements to better reflect the evolving interests of our camp community and the program we offer.
